Making Progress

Well today was better than yesterday with the AFO. Yesterday, he had to wear it two hours in the morning, and two in the evening. He screamed like crazy in the morning, for about 15mins, but then was distracted, and was fine. He was really excited to take them off though. After his nap, I had to put them on again, and once again he screamed, but I told him we were going "bye bye" and he stopped, and let me finish putting them on with no problems. We then went to see my mom and dad. My dad was in a motercyle accident a little over a year ago, and has to wear an AFO. Max thought this was cool, that his grandpa was wearing something just like him! Max's is of course much cooler cause it has trucks, and blue and red! Today Max had to wear it three hours in the morning, and three in the evening. He didn't want to put them on at all, and screamed and yelled, for about 10mins. Once we got food infront of him though, he was fine. We went to put them on this afternoon and he was FINE with it, didn't cry, or scream! Just kept saying shoes. I of course praised him like CRAZY, and kept talking about how cool these shoes were, and how they had trucks on them. He did great with them, and didn't even want to take them off after his three hours were up!!!!! So we decided to keep them on the rest of the night. They fit well, and leave no red marks. He is already walking better because of them. The only problem with them, is me remembering that his foot doesn't bend certain ways with it on. Like when putting him in a shopping cart, ouch, sorry Max!

We are leaving for Flordia tomorrow, nice long 13hr drive. We will most likely stop and spend the night 1/2 way. We are just playing it by ear, see how Max does with it all. We are really excited for all of Alan's family to finally see him, and for Max's sister, who traveled to China with us, to see him again. She is going to be amazed of how far he has come!

Here are some pics of Max walking in his AFO.

Saying "CHEEEEESSSSEEEEE" to the camera!
